CASE STUDY # 5 (pursuant to case study # 4 pursuant to case study # 3 pursuant to case # 2 pursuant to case 1: The Donnie Diaries: an ode to Ipecac)
Warning: the following rant may contain extremely offensive and disturbing images of… but I already said that last time didn’t I, and the time before that and the time before that and the.. forget it – “a Lucy in the sky with Donnie rant” characterised by Tourettes like responses “producing extreme examples of logorrhea, hebefrenia and dissociation, contrasted by excessive ASSOCIATION AND digression eventually reverting to the most deplorable doggerel (containing extreme use of juvenile ryhme, homophones, paronomasia, and portmanteau if you wanta get pedantic), blah blah blah…” with appropriate caveats along the way
ESCHATOLOGY VERSUS SCATOLOGY
Speaking from the point of view of an atheist, an agnostic at best, ironically nothing concerns me more than the religious climate of today: PARTICULARLY the so called “Christians.” They have more varieties than that tired old expression – Heinz 57.
But the most relevant for today can be boiled down to two, maybe three and here’s where Confessions comes in. Because I decided to go back and reread what our Augie said about the end times and I couldn’t help but see the similarity to today’s religious climate and that of the climate of Jesus’ day: the political so called believers as opposed to what Jesus by contrast said.
In His day they were looking forward to a political takeover – NOT a spiritual one. Today, they may SAY they are, to justify their actual literal militancy, but make no mistake, it’s a power grab like the Crusades, the Dominianists of today, Christian Nationalists, or ANY OTHER religious group that believes in a theocracy by any means possible. E.g.: Donald Trump and all his so called “Christian” followers. I’d love to name names, but just look at anyone of his holy huddles where they’re all laying hands on Donnie Darko praying, not for his spiritual salvation, they wouldn’t dare – but rather for his physical salvation. And the country’s, and for all those who oppose him. But NOT for their salvation from harm or death, but rather FOR their physical harm AND yes death as in Good and Pretti – or at the very least from the error of their ways. Because ANYTHING less – than 110 % pro Trump! – is worthy of deportation, death and damnation. Hang Pence, kill Pelosi, shiv Schiff, shoot Schumer…
And here’s where Augie’s take comes in. Because he preceeded all this by almost a generation. In fact, he bases all his future paintings on that very subject: eschatology, the study of the end times. A subject back then that was of little interest on the national scene, today has now taken center stage.
Now from what I can gather, Augie never saw the completion of Israel as a requirement for the Second Coming, in fact just the opposite with a future devastation that if NOT for the Second Coming not only ALL of Israel will be wiped out but the WHOLE WORLD for that matter. Not a difficult image to imagine with Trump in control. Matter of fact, I can’t imagine any other. And on that we both agree because now the implication is just the opposite: what they’re doing now is MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction).
In Jesus’ day they assumed He would take political control by force. Today, how many expect the same thing? Thus Trump’s foreign policy. All based on the Christian Nationalist’s take: TAKE?! Not fake, but make, as in wake up America and TAKE what is rightfully yours, our MANIFEST DESTINY – first America, then Canada, Greenland, Venezuela, Cuba, mine eyes hath seen the glory of the coming of the sword, Donnie’s trampling out the vintage where the rapes and grafts are stored – he hath loothed the faithful blighting of hith terrible pithed horde – hith truth ith marching on – gory gory hellatoya – gory gory hella-toya – gory gora hell- a to-ya – HIS truth is marching on (damn there goes my Tourettes again sorry sorry won’t happen again) America
Yes, HIS truth America, NOT ANYONE else’s, not the searchers, the churches, or even the John Birchers (McCarthy and Roy’s biggest supporters a Commie under every bush Birchers) all now replaced with the Christian Nationalist’s once again quoting Scripture like Satan himself and how many in the past? Miller in ’43? 1843 that is. And when Jesus didn’t return he upped to ’44 (what a bore). And who gave 88 reasons why Christ will return in ’88? (but don’t be late!) 1988 that is. And when He didn’t, let’s refine it to ’89 (Edgar C. Wisenut that is [or was it Whisenant?]). And not to be outdone (oh what fun), Harold Camping gave us another one – a Camping sampling that is, in ’94 (another boor), then 2011 (next stop heaven) and then ’12 if you wanna delve even more…
but such a whore – ALL of’m, contradicting every precept that even an atheist such as I can see that their dyslexic “net” inverted “ten ” commandments – such as “live” spelled backwards is “evil” which to them IS to live – for revenge Vengeance is mine saith the Board all of whom are ruled by their lord of the flies which refers to the ones who live off of piles of dung lest the symbolism escape anyone – Beelzebub – double double toil and trouble Good (as in Renee) is bad and bad is good how petty as to forget Pretti and where is Noam now? Riding the range with the ghost riders in the sky?
And now John Wayne Moon Mullins speaking of eclectic dyslexics yes as long as Donnie can assure himself all their IQs are below his he’s safe and if they need a reminder of their inferiority, gift them as Stalin did to humiliate his lackeys too if the shoe fits wear it if you dare but do not despair little Marco you poor little narco looking like a little kid trying on Daddy’s shoes is there no depth to how low all of you will go since none of them fit of course how coarse when you stay the course (dang, again with the homophones, sorry, sorry, paronomasisiacal Tourettes is the condition, this is the rendition it’s not by my wry decision, vision OR ULTIMATE MISSION AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Anyway, back to the eschatological. And Donnie’s attempt to reduce it to the mere scatological.
