Not technically a Main Street, but every town (at least in the past) had its edge of the town (now they tend to all run together – e.g., Boshington – urban sprawl from Boston to Washington with hardly a break in between.
And if nothing else, the railroad tracks at least divided one section from another (albeit not necessarily a good thing). But the romance of the rails at one time was just as alluring as the open road.
All of these are very much a part of his story (at least verbally), and consequently, he needs to paint them.
